Jesus and God’s Word: 

#1—Jesus was disciplined in the Word

John 1:1,14 “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God….So the Word became human and made his home among us…the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”

Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

Jesus was disciplined in the Word, 
THEREFORE,
I am to be a self-feeder.

(See 1 Peter 2:2 and Hebrews 5:11-12)

 

#2—Jesus was defined by the Word

Luke 4:21, Then he began to speak to them. “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!” (In other words: This is Me!). 

Jesus was defined by the Word, 
THEREFORE,
I know who I am.

1 John 3:1-2, “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. Dear friends, we are already God’s children…” 

 

#3—Jesus displayed God’s Word

Luke 4:22a, “Everyone spoke well of him and was amazed by the gracious words that came from his lips.”

Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” 

Jesus displayed God’s Word, 
THEREFORE,
I am to go and do the same.

 

Final thought: Do not add God’s word to your life, build your life around God’s Word (See Jeremiah 17:7-8)
