Luke 12:16-21
How are finances related to how God designed you? (Luke 12:16-21)
- One of the biggest indicators of your heart’s desire is how you choose to spend your money. (Matthew 6:21)
- Every dollar is a decision.
- What percentage of a Christian’s money does God ask them to use for His purposes? 100% (Psalm 24:1)
- 10 dollars: $1 = Tithe
$1 = Save
$8 = Whatever you want
- 10 dollars: $1 = God’s purposes for the local church

Relationships First
Colossians 3:12-15
Drift– a gradual shift in position; an aimless course; to become carried along subject to no guidance or control.
“They are filled with all unrighteousness, evil, greed and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, arrogant, proud, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, senseless, unloving, and unmerciful.” Rom. 1:29-31 CSB.
What does it take to be intentional?
- Begin at the end. Identify what matters most. (Phil. 4:9; Prov. 13:22; Deut. 6:5-7)
- Take up the challenge. (Col. 3:12-15; Prov. 20:7, 3 John 1:4; Matt. 28:19-20, James 4:17)
- Practice gratitude. (Psalm 9:1; Phil. 4:6-7)
Three big questions:
- What do you want?
- Where are you?
- Are you ready to make a move?
Final Thought: Ask God: who has He called you to impact? How intentional have you been? Are you ready to live like it’s the end?

First Things First
James 4:13-17
Drift—a gradual shift in position; an aimless course; to become carried along subject to no guidance or control.
“For this reason, we must pay attention all the more to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away.” Hebrews2:1(CSB)
What does it take to break the drift?
(1) Escape Passive Disengagement
- Proverbs 24:33-34, “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.”
- (See Genesis 3:6)
- Proverbs 6:9, “But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up?”
2) Embrace the Gift of Disillusionment
- See, v13-14
- Psalm 90:12, “Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.”
3) Embark in Thought-filled Discipline
- See v15
- Matthew 6:33, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
Three key questions:
- What do you want?
- Where are you?
- Are you ready to make a move?
Final Thought: Today is a gift of beginning. Ask God, who did He make you to be? How far have you drifted? Are you ready to start?

The Gift of New
Sunday Dec 30, 2018
Sunday Dec 30, 2018
“The Gift of New”
Isaiah 43:19
What do you do with the gift of new?
1)Thank God
v14a, “This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:…”
Psalm 118:24, “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
2)Remember God’s Great Deeds
v19, “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? …” (See also v16-17)
3)Forget about it!
v18, “But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.”
Amos 5:5, “Seek me and live; do not seek Bethel, do not go to Gilgal, do not journey to Beersheba.”
4) Get ready to take the leap
v19, “…I will create rivers in the dry wasteland”
Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
Ephesians 3:20, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we night ask or think!”
There’s a place that’s as clean as a mountain stream
That’s as bright as an April morn,
There’s a place for rebuilding broken dreams,
There’s a place where hope is reborn.
There’s a place that is open to all this day,
It’s the place that He gives to all men,
There’s a place that is only a step away,
It’s the place of beginning again.
Final Thought: The gift of new is always God’s grace to you.
