Fig Leaves & Family Patterns
Wednesday Oct 01, 2025
Wednesday Oct 01, 2025
This week’s Beyond Sunday features David Rambo, Michael Shearon, Josh Hensley, and Paxton Redd, diving into the launch of the new sermon series Wrecked. Yet. Renewed. The conversation centers around Adam and Eve, the instinct to hide our failures, and how God draws us out of hiding for healing and renewal. The hosts unpack Kevin’s five key sermon points: opening the blinds that bind, shedding shame through confession, getting found in the history of hiding, dropping the blame game, and beginning again with God .
The team also plays a lively “Two Truths and a Lie – Hide & Seek Edition,” mixing biblical and historical stories of hiding. From Rahab to Shakespeare, the laughter flows even as deeper truths emerge about confession, generational struggles, and the freedom found in honesty before God and others. The episode closes with a look ahead to this Sunday’s message on families wrecked by fear, with Josh sharing his own journey through anxiety and God’s faithfulness.

WRECKED. YET. RENEWED. - Wrecked by Deception (9/28/25)

Wrecked. YET. Renewed. - "Wrecked by Deception" - Genesis 3:1-13
The story of Adam and Eve shows how dysfunction began with miscommunication, deception, and blame. Though given a perfect start, they fell into sin, hiding in shame from one another and from God. Instead of truth-telling, they shifted blame. Yet God responded with both truth and grace—announcing consequences, but also promising redemption through the coming “offspring” who would crush the serpent, pointing to Christ as the Truth and the Way. God covered their shame, protected them from eternal brokenness, and even through their fractured family began the story of redemption, ultimately fulfilled in Jesus, the Son of God who came through Adam’s line. Their story reveals that if God could bring renewal through such brokenness, He can bring healing and hope to any family.

Wednesday Sep 24, 2025
Wednesday Sep 24, 2025
This week’s episode wraps up New Work Fellowship’s Know, Grow, Go series by diving deep into what it means to “Go”. Special guest April Oatts, New Work’s Missions Coordinator, joins Josh, Michael, and Justin to share her personal journey of stepping into missions—both locally and internationally. April’s story highlights how everyday moments, from corporate settings at AT&T to international mission trips, can become powerful opportunities to share Christ.
The team also discusses Sunday’s sermon, which focused on two core commands: giving like Jesus and going like Jesus. Justin shares practical tools like the “three circles” and a 90-second testimony for having faith conversations, while April emphasizes the importance of bold, timely conversations rather than waiting for the “perfect” relationship. The group closes with an exciting update about the upcoming Cadiz Campus launch, challenging everyone to pray and consider their personal role in this new opportunity to reach their community.

Invited and Wanted - "Go" - Matthew 28:18-20
Our mission is to KNOW Christ, GROW in Christ, and GO as the body of Christ—but the heart of this message is all about the GO. Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you” (John 20:21). To “go” means living sent lives: giving like Jesus gave, sharing the good news with boldness, and stepping into the mission God has placed before us. We believe every follower of Christ is called to pray, give, and go so that the world may come to know Him.

Wednesday Sep 17, 2025
This week on the Beyond Sunday podcast, Josh Hensley and Paxton Redd with Brandon & Jayme Tubbs dive into the second part of New Work’s mission statement: GROW in Christ. Brandon and Jayme, long-time New Work members and ministry leaders, share how serving with fifth and sixth-graders has deepened their own faith and created meaningful connections with the next generation. They reflect on seeing young leaders like Hannah Buttram and Chaney Guffey grow from their early days in Route 56 to serving in leadership roles today.
The group also discusses how spiritual growth happens not just in the church building but within everyday family rhythms, like intentional prayer and inviting God into daily struggles. They highlight the upcoming ordination of Pastor Steve Buttram on Sunday evening, September 21, and the ongoing impact of Leadership Circle, a Monday morning gathering where 32 leaders meet to sharpen each other and grow together.

Invited and Wanted - "Grow" - Ephesians 3:14-19
In this second message of our series around our mission statement—We exist so every man, woman and child can KNOW Christ, GROW in Christ, and GO as the body of Christ—we look at Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:14–19. Spiritual growth is more than outward effort; it begins with God’s power at work in us. As Christ makes His home in our hearts, we are rooted in love, strengthened in community, and led toward the fullness of God. This passage shows us what it truly means to grow in Christ.

Wednesday Sep 10, 2025
Wednesday Sep 10, 2025
This week on Beyond Sunday, Paxton Redd, Josh Hensley, and Michael Shearon welcome special guest Joshua Sledge to the table. Together, they launch a three-part series based on New Work Fellowship’s mission statement: KNOW Christ, GROW in Christ, and GO as the body of Christ. Pastor Kevin kicked off the series on Sunday, focusing on what it truly means to know Christ and find belonging in God’s family. The group discusses Kevin’s message, the deep desire we all have to belong, and how that is ultimately fulfilled through a relationship with Jesus and active participation in the church.
Joshua shares his powerful personal journey of moving from simply attending church to becoming deeply involved in ministry and eventually feeling called to preach. His story highlights how serving in children’s ministry, men’s ministry, and beyond has transformed his family, his marriage, and his own spiritual walk. The episode also touches on exciting church milestones, like 32 consecutive weeks of baptisms and the impact of intentional prayer through the Impact Cards. This conversation will inspire you to step deeper into community and consider how God might be calling you to grow and serve.

When in Rome - "Leadership Is Partnership" - Romans 16
Romans 16 reminds us that leadership is really partnership—every hand and every gift matters in the mission. Yet Paul points us higher: it is the Lord who secures the victory. Verse 20 captures it perfectly—the God of peace will soon crush Satan. Peace and triumph are not opposites, but the echo of the gospel from beginning to end.
